Submit

We welcome students aged 12-22 to submit their literary pieces related to STEM as well as their artwork to our magazine, The Monochrome! Submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis for our monthly issues.

We do not accept any form of offensive pieces depicting hateful speech to be submitted to our magazine.

We are seeking artwork and written work displaying unique experiences and thought. While we prefer submissions related to STEM and are monochromatic, they are not required for publication.

To submit, please fill out the form below. We do not have any typesetting requirements, and we accept previously published pieces as long as the publication platform permits you to republish. You are also welcome to submit as many pieces as you would like.

Artists are welcome to include AI-generated elements in their artwork. However, if AI-generated pieces are used, the original AI-generated content must be submitted along with the artist’s process work, and information about the application used to create the AI-generated elements should also be provided.

For written work, we invite individuals to submit pieces that explore the intersection of the humanities with science, technology, art, engineering, and mathematics. This could entail personal experiences, profiles of under-represented individuals in fields like science, book reviews focusing on science fiction, opinion pieces on current events or new discoveries. Additionally, we embrace diverse forms of expression, including former debate cases, school projects, and other creative mediums that have been repurposed into submissions, as long as they authentically represent your viewpoint. However, we do not accept literary contributions created with the use of artificial intelligence.

If you submit a nonfiction piece, please include your references as part of your submission as well.

We will respond to you within a week of your submission to let you know if your submission has been accepted to our magazine, and we will provide at least three lines of editorial feedback to all submissions.
